Leaders Club

For Members in Grades 6-12, the Geary Family YMCA offers the ability for students to be involved in a structured environment to learn how to properly conduct weekly meetings and to do volunteering within the YMCA and our community.

Leaders Club is run by the members and allows an opportunity for leadership training, personal growth, service to others and strong social development.  Participants learn the importance of working in a group setting to achieve goals and objectives.

Family Events

Family Friday Nights

The big gym will be set aside on the dates listed below for the inflatable Big Fun Run. This is fun for all ages! The Big Fun Run will be ready to go from 6:00-8:00pm The pools are also available from 6:30-8:00pm. Bring a guest family for $15.00. If they join within 30 days they can apply their $15.00 towards their membership.

Youth Activities

Little Ninja

This is a program for kids 4-6 yrs of age. The class consists of concentrating on teaching skills including balance, focus, teamwork, control, memory, discipline, fitness and coordination.  It is a fun workout for the students.  They learn to punch and kick but NEVER at each other. Safety tips, such as what to do if approached by a stranger are also incorporated.  Students are awarded belts and stripes as they master their skills. The program instructor is John Paxton, a fourth degree black belt in Kempo Martial Arts.  Mr. Paxton has been teaching a similar program at Findlay Martial Arts Academy for six years with great success.  Uniforms can be purchased through Mr. Paxton, but are optional.

Teen Nights

The Y will be open from 7:000-10:00pm on the following Saturdays for local students in grades 6-8. Activities: basketball, kickball, volleyball, swimming, movies, the Family Fun Center or just hanging out with friends. Parent volunteer chaperones appreciated and needed. ID’s are required for a locker key.

Fee: members $2.00, non-member $5.00 – You must sign in and out!  No re-entry allowed if student leaves the building.

YMCA To Host National Healthy Kids Day-Free to the Community!!

The Geary Family YMCA will be holding the 16th Annual National Healthy Kids Day at the YMCA on Saturday. This day will celebrate the health and well –being of your kids, family and community.  Activities planned are use of the – Family Fun Center, The Youth Adventure Center, The inflatable Big Fun Run, The Dance- Dance Revolution Max 2, gym games, healthy snacks. There will be prizes, snacks and balloons for the kids.  This event is free for the family!  Come dressed to play and learn a few healthy lifestyle hints.
